The scholarship supports further education and research stays at German universities or non-university research institutions in the fields of German as a foreign language, German as a native language, German as a minority language, German as a teacher, German philology, German studies as well as cultural studies, social sciences and humanities, which are carried out in coordination with an academic supervisor in Germany.

Who can apply?

• Very well qualified graduates, doctoral candidates, early career researchers or
• Lecturers/(assistant) professors

Duration of funding

• 1-5 months for very well qualified graduates, doctoral candidates, early career researchers or
• 1-3 months for lecturers/(assistant) professors

Application deadline

Applications can be submitted at any time and must be received by the DAAD at least three months before the planned stay.
